Project description
The World Service Trust, a UK-based charity, is partnering with Beijing-based NGOs to develop information, training and assistance for people who have a visual disability. During an 18-month training and radio production scheme, aimed specifically at blind and partially-sighted people, the project will work closely with Chinese and international experts, NGOs, local radio stations and government bodies to create an informative, interactive platform reflecting the needs and concerns of disabled people and their families. Part of this project will require finding ways of bringing vital information and advice directly to the most disadvantaged disabled people, especially those living in the countryside. To do this, the partners will run a Mobile Advice Clinic (MAC), comprising legal, medical and educational specialists, which will visit disabled people in villages in North China. The MAC will seek to assist about 500 disabled people during 10 one-week visits to rural areas. A sample survey of disabled people, involving 1,000 questionnaires, will be conducted at the beginning, middle and end of the project.

Job description
