国王第一次听到夜莺在他宫殿里歌唱时感动得热泪盈眶，于是叫人把夜莺关进笼子，以便每天能听到她歌唱。不久国王得到了一只会唱歌的玩具夜莺，便遗弃了活夜莺。一天玩具夜莺坏了，不能再歌唱了，国王无限惆怅，久病不起。正在国王生命垂危之时，突然从窗口传来了夜莺的歌声。
Once upon a time，in the garden of a king there lived a nightingale．She sang beautifully．And one day the King was so moved when he heard the bird sing that tears came to his eyes．He then had the bird kept in a beautiful cage in his palace and listened to her every day．
Before long the King received a gift of a toy nightingale from his neighbor country．It could sing some of the songs the real bird sang．Now the toy bird gave the King much pleasure．And it was able to sing thirty times without being tired．
Without being noticed，the living nightingale had flown out of the cage，back to her green woods．
But one evening，when the toy bird was singing its best，something inside the bird went out of order．No one could repair it．No singing of any nightingales was heard．
Many years passed．And the King felt so sorry that he lay ill and，it was said，was going to die． He wanted very much to hear the nightingale’s song again．
All at once there came the beautiful song of a nightingale through a window． The living nightingale came to sing to the King again．And life began to return to the King．
“Thank you，little bird，”said the king．“I didn’t treat you well before，and yet you have given me life again． How can I reward（报答） you？”
“You have done that already．”said the nightingale．“I brought tears to your eyes the first time I sang，I shall never forget that．”
The King felt strong and well again．The nightingale often came to sit in a tree of the palace garden and sing something to make the King happy.

Yanni was born on November 14, 1954 and was raised in Kalamata, Greece. Yanni Hrisomallis (pronounced Chrysomallis, more or less) followed other paths before his music became his primary focus. At age 14 Yanni broke a national swimming record in Greece, and even dreamed of becoming an Olympic swimmer. He came to the United States in 1972 and attended the University of Minnisota, earning a B.A. in psychology. After college, Yanni was the keyboardist for a Minneapolis-based rock band called Chameleon. What happened after that is history. He now has his own recording studio, and has sold over 10 million albums. Being a self-taught musician, Yanni can neither read nor write music, but rather write down his compositions in his own special shorthand. He has perfect pitch, and composes all of his own music.
Most of his albums have been on the Private Music record label, but is now signed with Virgin Records/EMI. He has done numerous TV and feature film soundtracks, plus other projects such as music for commercials. He divides his time between L.A. and the Seattle, WA area, and is now an American citizen.
About Linda Evans: He dated the actress for several years, but in early 1998, they issued a statement saying they had broken up. This apparently was a friendly parting. Of course, we all appreciate their privacy, so I hope we'll just leave this issue alone from now on.
Where He Lives: He has at least a couple of homes... most recent somewhere in Florida (no, I don't know where), plus L.A. in California. He used to live near Seattle, but I don't know if he still does.
No, He Didn't Shave His Hair: There was a rumor suggesting Yanni shaved his hair short... no one has confirmed that, and if I remember correctly, it was denied by people "in the know."
